WHAT IS THE GREAT RESIGNATION?

The Great Resignation is an ongoing economic trend in which employees have voluntarily resigned from their jobs at a higher rate than usual in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The COVID-19 pandemic turned the world of employment on its head in many ways. We have seen employees being let go and stood down, being stuck at home out of work, employee’s having to adapt to working from home and companies being faced with the difficult decision of closing their doors.
We have also seen ourselves and heard of employees across multiple sectors and industries coming to the realisation they aren’t happy with their jobs or satisfied with their work environment, career path or their work-life balance and therefore explored new opportunities within the market and made a move.

The Great Resignation has meant that companies, organisations and industries have had to pivot and adapt to the new world of employment in ways that once seemed unimaginable.

WHAT OPPORTUNITIES THE GREAT RESIGNATION BRINGS?

The Great Resignation has provided job seekers and the working cohort of Australians the opportunity to make that change of career or leave that toxic work environment that has left them feeling burnt out or take that step up into a leadership role or find a position that promotes a work-life balance that suits their lifestyle – I could keep going but I am sure that gives a bit of an idea.

It would only take you a few minutes scrolling on Seek or Indeed to see just how many jobs are vacant across your local area at the moment – it really is a candidate’s market so now could be a great time for you to take the step and do some exploring of the opportunities that may be available!

To make things even more accessible and more person-centred to your employment search, it could be worth engaging with a Recruiter like me and the team at KLC to assist you in securing your new, exciting opportunity or maybe even your dream job!

HOW A RECRUITER CAN HELP YOU!

A Recruitment Consultant can provide a tailored experience of job searching through support and individualised coaching and feedback to put you in the best position to secure your next job. There are many ways in which we can help you and here are a few below –

1. SAVE TIME – Recruiters (like me) spend the majority of our 8-hour days on the search for candidates for our clients and now have a great understanding of the jobs that are out there across the market, within our client base and outside of this as well. We understand that you may be currently working and may not have a lot of spare time after work in the midst of cooking dinner or getting little ones ready for bed to dedicate specific time to job searching – so let us help you!

2. BE SUPPORTED THROUGH THE PROCESS – We support candidates from our initial interaction with you to the post-placement check-ins and all things in between, whether that be discussing different opportunities, providing you extra information on the positions and client’s culture and environment, negotiating salary on your behalf and much more.

3. RECRUITERS HAVE ACCESS TO EXCLUSIVE POSITIONS THAT MAY NOT BE ADVERTISED – Some of our clients rely solely on Recruiters as a 3rd party sourcing agency so we do have access to exclusive positions that are not posted on job boards available to the public.

4. BE PRESENTED WITH OPPORTUNITIES THAT FIT YOUR SKILL SET AND ABILITIES THAT YOU MAY HAVE NOT LOOKED AT IN THE PAST – Recruiters can help you by presenting opportunities that may be a little bit out of the box to what you think you may be looking for in your next role – I have worked with candidates in the past who have never considered that their skillset is actually transferable and adaptable in a range of different environments and seen them thrive!

5. RECEIVE FEEDBACK, TRAINING AND COACHING – Recruiters can work with you to provide you with feedback, training and coaching in many ways such as with your resume, key selection criteria, interview preparation and feedback on strengths and areas to improve or focus in on. For example, at KLC, we provide in-depth interview preparation and feedback to our candidates utilising the information we have obtained through past candidates around interviews with clients for a range of different programs which they regularly recruit for.

All in all, we have seen such a shift in the market for candidates and there is no better time than now to start exploring and see what is out there for you!

You can contact the Recruitment Team at KLC Recruitment for a chat about this Monday-Friday from 9 am-5 pm on 03 9857 6756.
